Amendments in House of Lords LONDON, July 7. The House of Lords^ in the committee stage of Mr A. P. Herbert 's Marriage Bill, redaced the period in wh.ch divorce is not allowable from five to three years, and agreed to a further amendment giving judges discretion to allow a petition to be presented within three years in cases of exceptional bardship. It rejected an amendment deleting five years' insanity as a ground for divorce. Lorcl Dawson said that the chances oi' recovei'y aft.cr five years' insanity were very Bmall.
