SHERENDEN BRANCH OF W.D.F.U. MEETS

The July meeting of the Sherenden Women' s Division was held at ' 'Koha- . tunui," Mrs Eric Beamish'S hoihe. A huge log ffre made one for^et the cold and winterly conditions outside, &nd the excellent attendance of members testified to he popularity of he division's meetings. Mrs .Smillie won the sucking pig donated by Mr& Boyd, the fuhdS gbihg to swell the coffers of the Andersoii triplets. Members are busy knittiiig singlets for St. Maiy's Home, wool iieing given out for this purposev ]Virs Harold Beamish colleoted & big {file.pf peggy squares, and is to make a quilt. Mrs T. H. Lowry was present and gave a most entertaining travel falk ahout her last trip through part oi' Mexico, then to New York and Paris and Eiiglaud. Mfs Lowry attended the World Conference of the Red Cross Society in Paris, and told members bf the interesting persons met there from all hations ; also of the wonderful Work and organisation of the Red Cross. Society of which she is the New Zealand president. Her talk was made most amusing and entertaining with personal reminiscences and she was He&rtily thanked at the conclusion. A delicious afternoon tea was served by Mesdames E. Beamish, McGrane, Smilley and Miss J. Lowe. The next meeting will be held at Mrs Butt's home, Sherenden.
