EXCELLENT PLAYREADING GIVEN AT WOMEN'S CLUB
Great interest is always taken by meinbers of the Hastings Women 's Commim'ity Club in the meetings arrangecf by the play-reading circle, and yesterday afternoon a large audience felt that they had heard a very good play splendidly read. ' The play chosen was "The Last Enemy, ' ' a three-act play by Frank llarvey, and each member of the cast read her part in such a manner that the interest of the audience was never lost and the atmosphere of this serious play was well created. The cast was: Dr. Alexander Mac-' kenzie, Miss Helen Ford; James Churchill, Mrs O. C. Muller; the janitur, Mrs H. W. 0. Baird; Thonaaa Perry_, Mrs J. Harris; Clara (his sister), Mrs II. Gilbertson; Cynthia (his daughter), Mrs O. C. Moller; J'ervy Warrender, Mrs E. V. Simpson; Harry Graham, Mrs George Davies. Mrs W. J. White read the directions, and also the small parts of Nancy, the maid, and Wilson. An interval was made between the acts for afternoon tea, which was servod in the adjoining room, and members aftorwards leturned to the lounge, Wliich was gaily decorated with wall baskets of tinted t'oliage, bowls of iceland poppies and *t lovely bowl of pink and white camellias, japonica and lnaidenhair fern. Among those present were: Mrs E. V. Simpson, Mrs O. O. Moller. Mrs H. W. C. Baird, Mrs J. Wright, Mrs W. J. White, Mrs A. M. Brodie, Miss H. Ford, Mrs OHvev, Miss E. Pickett, Miss A. Seal. Mrs H. Holaerness, Mrs Rees Davies, Mrs K. E. Crompton, Mrs H. S. Robinson, Mrs R. Puflett., Mrs E. M. Marshall. Mrs George Davies, Mrs J, Harris, Mrs L. J. Harvey, Mrs B. Shadbolt, Mrs E. Curlett, Mrs J. Wright, Mrs Moorhouse, Mrs H. Stratton, Mrs A. Giorgi, Mrs J". Craig, Mrs W. A. MacFarlane, Mrs A. T.ofkie. Mrs D. TI. Hookcr. Mfs G. Stevcms, Mrs E. Riloy, Mrs Donald Robortson.
