j PALdUEU&ilJiN N. This Day. An eurtliquako oi' sullicieet iuionsity lo cause mornentary alarm was felt ia Palmerston North at 12,21 this morning. The phenomenon culminated in a hump whieh was proceeded by a swaying motion causifeg doors and windows to rattle. At such places as the Public Hospital, telephone exchaiige, polico station, railway station and other buildings whciv night shifts are cmployed ihose in attendanee agreed that the visitation was quite sharp enough to be un pJeasant. Inquiries reveal that the 'quake vvu-s felt most severely in Palmerston Noith, Woodville, Dannevirke and Pahiatuu, aiso in Eketahuna, Masterton and Foxton to a lesscr degree. Towns furtherafield such as Napier, Rotorua, Ha milton and Wellington xeported that no shake had been cxperienced.
