Kirileako Beats Stein

pALMEKSTUN, N., Last Night,. Making his fitial appearance jn New Zealand, Sammy Stein, 15 stone lOlbs, was defeated on points by Matros Kiri-" linko, 15 stone 81bs, after each had secured a fall in a professional contest at Palmerston North to-night, Stein appeared to be wrestling well within himself in the lirst gve rounds, during whieh Kirilinko displayed ingenuity in extracting himself from difficulties. These rounds were comparatively uninteresting, but Stein brightened the bout by introdncing flynig tackles in the sixthi round as a preparation for his fall, whieh resulted from a body press. The seventh was a lively round, dtiring whieh Kirilinko weakened Stein' s resistence With elbow-jolts and chanceries, and about midway through the round obtained an equalising fall with a body press. Kirilinko also set tHe pace in the final round and had Stein in an indian deathlock, but was unable to press home this advantage. Stein breaking the hold by upsetting Kirilinko's balance. The Russian eontimied his attack, and when the final gong sounded the referee, Wally Nicholls, avvarded him the decision.
