(rteceivea t>, ».4o a.m.j LONDON July 5. Their Majesties the.King and Queen, paying a State visit to Edinburgh, were ceremonially weleomed at the Princess Street station. The Scots Guards furnished the guard of honour. A salute was fired by the Castle guns, Mr Walter Elliot, the present Lord Provost, who in the presence of the King-of-Arms and robed councillors and Magistrates, handed over two great silver keys of 'your wood, the city of Edinburgh" on a velvet cushion, which the King touched and remitted in accordance with the ancient custom.

Crowds filled the decorated streets en route to the Palaee of HolyroodHouse. Troops lined the thoi'oUghfares, their kilts tam-o'-shanters, tartans adding a patriotic toUch to the scene. This is the first time for 370 yfiars that & Scottish queen has entered the Scdttish capital. The procession through tlle decorated streets provided colourful pageantry. Un arrival at Holyroodhouse, their Majesties and the Princesses, under the eyes of thousands on Salisbury Crags, inspected the Royal Archers, who were drawn up in the palace garden in green. ahd crimson piped Uniforms with arrows in their belts, , With flat eaglefeathered caps and carryiUg 6ix foot bows. Their Majesties later reviewed forty thousand troops who lined the procession route. Their Majesties will entertain Scottish dignitaries at a dinner-party tonight. .
