(Received 6, 1-0 p.m.) LONDON, Jtiiy 5. The Imperial AirwayS flyirtghboat Caledonia leffc Foynes, Ireland at 7.57 p.m. on the first trans-Atlaintic commercial flight. Amid cheers of a few hundred Irish folk, led by Mr Eamon de Valera, the Caledonia taxibd ovfer the Shannon river and flew into the vast space of the Atlantie. It is difficitilt now td make history in aviation but it will be made if the first double trans-Atlantic commOrdial Jight is sucseessfui and the Way prepared for a pcrmanent regular fiying boat service between the United Kingdom, Ifeland and the United States, who are three parties in this great enterprise. A wireiess from the Caledonia at 9.30 Greenwich time, stated that good progress was being made across the Atlantie. The Caledonia carries 2320 gallons of petrol, her wOight on taking-off being 45,0001bs. Her 910-horse-power engines conSiime petrol at the rata df half-a-ton per hour.
