Conditions were of the worst for play on Saturday, the grounds bemg sodden, and during the games there weie sevefal heavy showers. Despite this, however, the standard of play was good and the surprisingly big crowds were given plenty of escitement and action. M.A.C. were fully extended by Hastings H.S.O.B., but the latter could not sustain their efforts and the Maons cventually Tan otit winners by 15 points to Oight after a particularly fine gauie. Marist scored an easy win at the espense of Napier H.S.O.B. in the sole match at Napier, the final count beirg 16— nil. The surprise_ of the day was the defeat of Hastings by Havelock North, this giving the Villagers their first win of the seuson. Celtic and Technical drew after a very even game in every xespct, each eice fcoring ohly fiv points. The positions of the teams are now as follow: —
