Mr P. Guthrie, a former resi'dent of Waipawa, and now in business in Auckland, was a visitor to the town during the week, renewing old friendships. • ^Ir and Mrs P. McVerry, who have been residents of Dannevirke for the past 14 years, left last week for the uorth, it being their intention to reslde at Kiwitahi, Morrinsville, where their son Fred is farming. Both, very weliknown throughout this district, took a keen ilnterest in the Roman Catholic Church activities. lt is not Mr McVerry 's intention to retire from the extensive business in which he is interested, and he will be a periodccal visitor to Dannevirke in the future. Mr D. Barrhtt, who for the past 12 months has been on the staff of the Magistrate 's Uourt in Palmerston North, since his transfer from Whangarei, leaves next week for Hamilton. Mr N. N. Dyer, of Hastings, a new appointeo to the staff of the Justico Department, will join the staff of the Palmerston North ofliee:
