Burial Ceremony The burial of the late Mr Te Moananui Tareha took place at the Waiohiki burial ground in the presence of a large gatherlng of na.tives from all parts of Hawke's Bay and numerous pakeha friends and sympathisers with the family, who are people of note in the Maori community and also well. known and highy esteemed in all circles throughout Hawke's Bay. The funeral rites, in accordance with the ritual of the Church of England, were carried out by the Very. Rev. Dr. F . A. Bonnett, Maori Bishop of Aotearoa, assisted by the Rev. H. Rangiihu, Oonducting an open-air service at che house and also the final rites at the graveside. There were eight pallbearers, all relativs and friends of the deceased, whilst laments, etc., were voiced by a group of young Maori women, lending a peculiarly impressive note to the proceednigs. In the cour.se of the service, Mr Tuiri Tareha, father of the deceased, feelingly addressed the assemblage, making speeial reference to the tragic blow he and his wife and family had experienced, and expressing very deep appreeiation of the wonderfu] help and sympathy which had been tendered them on all side's. Prior to ' the religious ceremonial, the Rev. Father Biordan, who has eharge of the Roman Catholic Maori work in tho Hawke's Bay and Wairoa districts, conveyed to tho- family and relatives of the deceased and tho Anglican Maori people, the very deep sympathy of the Catholic community in their time of sorrow, a period which drew ono and all closer together in the bonds ol! true Ohristian love and sympathy.
