WELLINGTON, Last Night. i'igures comparing the cost of timber ui Gisborne with the cost iu Wellington and Auckland were given by the l'arliamentary Seeretary iu Charge of Housing^ the Hon. J. A. Lee, in the course of a etatement to-day, in referring to the apparent high cost of building in Gisborne,-' as indicated by the recent tenders for State houses. The iigures showed the cost of timbei in Gisborne to be practically the satuc ha iii both Wellington and Auckland and, in some eases, were substantially lower. Arr Lce stated that Gisborne appeared in this respect to be in equally as favourable position as Auckland or Wellington.
