MR; E. A. VANDERLIP.

(Received 3, 10.30 a.m.; NEW YORK, July 2. The death has occurred in his 73rd year of Mr Frank A. Vanderlip, a prominent American banker and journalist. He started work as a reporter in Chicago in 1889., later becoming financial editor of the Chicago Tribune and the Economist. From 1897 to 1901 he was Assistant-Secretary to the Treasury, becoming at. the end of that period vice-president of the Nationai City Bank and president from 1909 to* 1919. In 1917, he was elected chaurmauof the War Savings Committee and appointed by the Secretary of the Treasury to conduct the sale of war savings certificates. He wrote many books of an economic nature.
