Eskvlew Football Dance. The Eskviexv and Gountry Football Club s annual ball was a great success, about 300 patrons being present. Splendid music was supplied by T.ps. Henry and his orchestra, with extras by Mr Harry Etheridge, piano and piano-ac-cordeon. The duties of M.C. were carried. out by Mr John Tait. In a keenly-contested game played at Central Park, Waipukurau, yesterday afternoon, a team from the Waipawa High School scored a narrow win over the Waipukurau High School by 11 points to 9. The Waipukurau primary school were successful in defeating teams from Takapau by big margins. Waipukurau A beat Takapau A by 40 points to nil, and Waipukurau B defeated Takapau B by 25 points to nil. Rainfall At Waipukurau. * A total of 3.5 inches of rain fell at Waipukurau last menth, compared with 5.67 iiiches for the corresponding month of 1936. The sharpest frost Of last month was on June 11, when six degrees were registered. Electricity At Burnside. Electric curren.t was switched on yesterday at Burnside— the first area to be reticulated by the Central Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board with concrete poles. A larger district, Springhill, will be ready to receive power shortly, most of the houses having already been wired. Commission Concludes. The Hawke's Bay Rural Adjustment Commission, consisting of Messrs. M. Greenwood (chairman), M. O. Grainger and R. H. White, held its final sitting at Waipukurau in the court-house yesterday. The commission commenced on Monday. Demonstration at Dannevirke. The Dnited District Fire Brigades' Association has allotted the Dannevirke brigade the annual demonstration for Easter, 1938. It will be held on thc Dannevirke domain.
