A BRAN MASH

Directions for Makiiig There are different ways of making a bran mash, and different ciasses of stock requir^ cpnsideratiqn, For a gow, qr even a brqod sow, the best plan ip to scald the bran by ppuring boiling water pver the quantity measured into the tub or pail, so ae not only to ?aturate the bran thoroughly, but leave a little over and above. Cover the veasel with a bag or mat, and set it aside fpr an hour pr twp. Before feeding, add mere waterj hqt and cold, to prpducp ithe desired volume and Ploppiness, and perve it just about lukewai'm. Bran may be fed dry to a horse mixed with whole or crushed oats» but a good mash may be made with oru?hed or milled oats mjxed with bran, and -then moistened with cold water. For a brood mare the bran .mash may be prppared as for a cow, but must be ncarly cold'befprp being fed. While a moist xnaah may bp mado with cold water in which tbe bran is allowed to coak for geveral hours, it is far better to use boiUng water, because the acbion of the boiling water swells the papticles pr flakes of the bran, and so renders the food mere easy of digestion. Bran fed dry has not the same laxative effects as moistened oy spaked, and since bran is moetly ueed beoausa of its laxativeness," it is uneconomjcal pot tp soak it thoroughly.
