Driver Escapes Injury

LEVIN, Last Night. Failing to notice the approaeh of n train on account of his vision of the lino being obscured by buildings, the driver of a light trade delivery van was fortunate to escape with only a shaking when the vehicle was struck at the Queen Street level crossing to-daj, and fairly extensively damaged. * The accident oecurred shortly after seven o'clock this morning. The van, owned by the Levin and District Cooporative Society and driven by Mr..' Stanley Wilson, was proceeding down Queen Street towards the business area,' arid on reaching the railway line collided with a goods train travelling north. Tho vehicle was struck on the left-hand mudguard and the impact carried it across the road, but was not of sufBeient force to overturn it. There was comparatively little damage done to the bodywork, though the chassis was 'bent. The train was travelling. slowly or the accident may have had more serious consequences.
