WELI/INGTON, This Day. Ihe Appeal Court hearing of the Mackenzie versu§ Harper case continued to-day. Mr C. H. Taylor, of Wellington, for the respondent, submitteri that the licensee's wife was in the same position as the servant with regard to the supply of liquor after hours and the authorities showed that a servant was not entitled to supply his guests after hours on licensed premises. Further, if the Court should take the view that the position of the licensee's wife was the same as a lodger ou premises and that she had the common rigjht in law to entertain her guests on premises, then it was contended that a lodger commits an offence if he supplies guests with liquor during closing hours. Judgment was reserved.
