PARTY TO CELEBRATE AN ENGAGEMENT

A very pleasant . evening was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Schorf, Hulxerin street^ Hastings, to celebrate the engagement of thoir eldest daughter Margaret (Peggy) to Sydney J. Fox. Games, singing and competitions were the order of the evening. Messrs J. and P. Jeneovich had their native instruments, the tambourinzas, and with Mrs. Seherf at the piano, they made a charming trio. Later the guests repaired to the dining room where a dolectablc supper had been provided, an outstanding, feature o± the table being the white and siJver engagement cake which the guests of honour cut amid cheers. The usual toasts were honoured and the youug couple received the congratulations and best wishes of all present. Among the invited guests were: Mr. and .Mrs. L. Fisher (Napier), Mr. and Mrs. J. Hooper (Napier), Mrss J. Scherf, Miss (J. Hannah, Miss Simpson (Napier), Miss L. Wilson, Miss J. McGunniss, Miss P. Fisher, Messrs. J. McCourt, B. Fox, S. Lo-cke, S. Scherf, J. Pencovich, J, Jeneovich,' F. Trubovich, R. Hannah, P. Cassin. Mrs. Scherf received her guests wearing a midnight-blue ensemble. ' The guests of houour wore a white laee ensemble over heavy satin and a halo of white flowers. Miss J. Scherf was wearing an embroidered' blue satin gown and wore o blue halo of flowers.
