The president comrnented on the fact that last season the membership was the best on record. The social evenings had been a great success, and Ladies' Day, at which the bowlers entertained the ladies of the Croquet Club, had been very enjoyable, and he hoped to see it made an annual affair. In com trast to the previous season, very little iuterruption occurred from inclement weather. The notable exception was cn Labour Day, when heavy rain drenched the greens. The balancesheet reflects the committee 's work. The committee arranged for an insurance cover on members' bowls. Though need of this has often been expressed, it was not taken advantage of by as many as was expected. s We are grateful to Mr A. Jacobs, of Wellington, for the donation of four cups to be won outright. Next year's oommittee will have the honour of arranging a competition for them. The green has received unstinted praise from visitors A little slow earjy in tho season, it playod fast later, and kept its grass well compared with many other greens. The green superintendent has spent no end of time and thought on its maintenance. Tho early heavy rolling was done by^volcntee'rs as was also the second watering with sulphate of ammonia to check the clover. The mower has not only been htted with an elecfcric motor, but also its fraine has been correeted to cut inore evenly.
