Effect of Much Larger Yarding MR. HOLDEN'S ENTRY A much larger yarding of fat sheep at Stortford Lodge yesterday accounted for an easier tendency in values. Ewes predominated, and a cousiderable percentage of these wero in light to medium order only. Several pens were in very poor order, being of inferior quality and not up to good store condition. The bidding for these tailed off owing to the absence of demand. Wothers wero m short supply, the outstanding entries being on account of Mr. D. J. Holdc-n, Mangateretere, who topped the market at 40/10 for a pen of heavy sorts. His two-tooths realised 37/1. A winter lamb brougkt 29/6. The following values for selected entries . were realised:— Nine small to medium-grown, blackfaced hoggets, in medium to prime order, made 22/6. An entry of small grown wethers, quite well finkned, made 26/-. On account of Mr. D. J. Holden, Mangateretere, 33 early shown, extra prime two-tooth wethers, a splendid quality entry of young mutton, made to 37/4. Also on account of Mr. Holden, an entry of cxceptional Corriedale-cross wethers, well «woolled, in extra prime condition, topped the ma*ket at 40/10, being purehased by Mr. J. B. Fleteher. An out-of -season winter lamb, just off its motker, and in prime condition, on account of Mr. J. N. Gillies, Tomoana, sold at 29/6. On account of Mr. J. W. Livingstone, Mangatahi, an entry of prime, heavy well-woolled ewes sold at 32/-. On account of the same vendor, a pen of medium-grown, prime wethers sold at 24/-. On account of McDonald Bros., 30 well-woolled medium owcs sold at 25/-.
