Good Sale at Addington

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Kight. Entries were of normal size at to-day ;s Addington market and considering that export buyers had ceased opera'K.ons for the season the sale was a good one. Store sheep: The entry was mixed, comprising for the m.ost part wether hoggets. These sold at an advance of a shilling, making up to 20s 0d; old ewes also sold belter and wethcrs improvcd slightly, making up to 2Gs. Eat lambs; Only 200 were 1'orward and these sold at recent export rates to local trade. Enporters were not operating. Fat jhec|B: A total of 5000 was penned inciuding some good lines of wethers from distant parts of the province. There was an irregular-saie over the earlier stages but a firming of up to ls 6d a head in the final stages for good sheep. Export ewes were cheaper. Exceptionally good wethers made to 45s lOd, good 32s to 36s, prime mediurn weight 28s to 31s and ordinary down ti) 26s. Ewes sold to 33s ld, good 25s to 28s, prime medium weights 23s to 25s, and inferior dpwn to 16s. Fat cattle: There were 500 yarded, a fow less than last wcek. The markot was firm in the earlier stages with practically no change in values but weakened towards the close, although not to a quotable extent. Heavy prime steers made from £14 10s to £17 12s Cd, prime heavy £12 10s to £14, prime medium weights £10 15s to £12 5s and light down to £9 5s. Best heifers sold to £13 12s 6d, good £8 to £10, medium £6 to £7 10s. Best cows to £13 12s 6d, good £7 ;5s to £9 5s, medium £5 10s to £7, light idown to £4 10s. Vealers: A medium sized entry, last iweek's rates being maintainod. Prime •heavy runners to £7 ls, heavy runners £4 12s 6d to £5, medium £3 10s to £4 10s, prime vealers £3 10s to £4 10s, medium 50s to £3 5s, small calves 25s to 37s 6d. Store cattle: Only mixed pens of cows were forward, no station lines being entered. Cows sold wfell at up to late rates. Cows made to £3 18s 6d, young steers £4 ls and calves 34s. Dairy cattle: A small entry of indiffierent sorts and thcro was a woakoning of up to 20s a hcad. Good second and third calvers made from £7 10s to £10, mediums to -£7, spring calvcrs £3 15s to £5; good young heifers to £8, medium £4 10s to £6 10s, inferior to £4 5s. ' Fat pigs: There was a keen sale in the fat pig section, both porkers and baconers advancing by 2s to 3s head. Okoppers made 4Ss Cd to £4 18s 6d, porkers 26s 6d to 55s Cd (avorage price pcr lb. Cd to 62d); baconers 53s- 6d to £4 19s Cd (avcrage price per lb. Cd to 61 d). Store pigs: There was a kecn sale, weaners in particuiar meeting with a strong demand. Weaners, small 9s to 13s, good 14s to 15s, slips 15s Cd to 17s, small storcs 17s Cd to 19s Cd, medium storcs 20s to 24s, iarge slorcs 23s to 27s Gd. 1 *
