PORT CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
The great popularity of the Port Caledonian Society's montiily inglesides was skown last evening, when the •Bulfalo Hall, Port Ahuriri, was packed by an ahnost record attendance, which entailed the provision of extra seating accoinmodation iu the body of the haii. Since the previous meetiug night the stage has been improved by the addltion of a drop scene wings, and other additions, The many visitors present, together with the regular patrons, enjoyed a particulairly hue musical programme. The musical programme was arranged by Miss Hazel Dykes, and coiuprised a duet by Missea Shirley Stevens and Yvonno Austin, vocal items, by MissCs Audrey Harris, ( Mavis Martin, Shirley Stevens, Miss Dykes, and Mr MuQuire { Hastings), all of which were greatly enjoyed, and a violin soio (Seottish airs) by Mrs Dufl (Hastings), This was oue of the geiiis of the musical programme and aronsed the audience to enthusiasm. Mrs Duff also played accompaninientd and assisted with, tliu music for the dances, her contributions being greatly appreciated. A Highland tling was danced bj Misses Joy Key, A. Key, j. Smith, G. Smith, E. Gilbertson, and J. Allen ; a hornpipe by Joy Key, and a Sean Iriughais by J. Smith. The Pipe Banrl played a number of selections undei the leadersliip of Pipe-Major Lawsou, wlm also piped t'or the Scottish dances. Mi aud Mrs Berry provided the musit toi the old-time dances, and Hr W J. Key was uu 'etfieient M.O. A dainty s upper was served.
