Vital Statistics for Hastings District HALF-YEARLY FIGURES A suhstantdal increase in births, but decreaJses in deaths and marriage licenees iesued for the half-year are noted in the returns provided by Mr. W. M. Will, Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages at Hastings. There have been big deereases in deaths and marriages for the past qdarter as compared with the same period lhst year. Thds position, as regards marriages, is due to the fact that- this year Eastew one of the most popular periods for marriages, fell in the first quarter but last year was in the second quarter of the year. Details of the statistics for monthiy, quarterly and half-yearly periods for the two years under review are 8>s foilow:—

During the past six inonths 20 marriage ceremonies were conducted in the office of the registrar, as against 16 during the same period last year.
