WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Minister of Defence (Hon. F. Jones) announced to-day that the following candidates had been selected for short-service , commissions in the Royal Air Force, and are to sail from New Zealand on August 13: — Brammall, Trevor Ernest, Blenheim. Brass, Donald Morrell, Wellington. Brinsden, Francis Noel, Auckland. Graham, Bryan, Christchurch. Gray, Kenneth Neil, Wanganui. Lilly, Leslie Gordon Weldon, Dunedin. Martin, John Claverley, Christchurch. Silk, Trevor Nelmes, Wanganui. Maddox, Richard George, Dunedin. Roberts, Wilfred, Auckland. Strachan, Ian Douglas Stuart, Wellington. Svendsen, Neil Hyland, Pukekohe. In addition, the following candidates have been accepted for shoft-service commissions in the RoyaL New Zealand Air Force and are to report at Wigram on September 1, 1937. Brown, WiUiam. Arthur, Auckland. Ransom, Leslie James, Bulls. Simpson, Joseph Cuningham, Christchurch. Watts, Jack Edmund, New Plymouth. The following candidates have been accepted for short-service commissions in the Royal Air Force, but to undertake their initial training in New Zealand, and are to report at Wigram on September 1, 1937: — " Dermody, James Michael, Wellington. Edwards, John Ernest, Auckland. Fisher, Robert Roland Patrick, Gore. ; fiaszard, Henry Hayden, Te Aroha. J Poulton, Michael Amold, Christ- • church. Rankine, David Alexander, Hastings. Trent, Leonard Henry, Nelson. Vernon, James Edward, Queenstown. Mr. G. F. Tallon, of Maungakaramea, •North Auckland, did not accept tho short-service commission for which he was selected, and his place has been fil^sd by the appointment of Mr. A. W. Mack, of Wellington, who will sail I from New Zealand on July 14. Messrs T. N. Silk and K. N. Gray, w*hose seleetions were announced recently, were unable to sail on July 14, autl they were replaced by Messrs C. J. Callingham, Wellington, and A. B. S. Holdsworthi Masterton*
