Woman Who Disappeared From the Rangatira NO EVIDENCE OF SUICIDE

WELLINGTON, Last Night. A finding that the deceased wds lost . overboard and drowned at sea during the passage of the Rangatira from Lyttelton to Wellington on May 2 and that he could find no cause to say that ehe committed suicide was returned by the Coroner Mr Gilbertson, at the inuuest into the death of Marjorie Elizabeth Jane Fulton, aged 68, xuarried. The inquest was conducted by order of the Attorney-General under section 3 of the Coroners Amendment Act. The husband oi .the deceased Nicholas Fulton, of Wanganui, said that his wife had been suhering from general disorder for a number of years and since 1035 had been an inmate of the hospital at Hamner Springs. Her health had shown a continued decline, and recently she had asked him to take her home. He told of being awakened by a stewardess on the Rangatira and intormed that no trace of his wifo could be found. They had no family. Medical reports were produced stating that the deceased had suffered from involuntary melancholia. There was no evidence of the deceased actually committing suicide, said the cojoner, although she might have had a sudden urge to do away with herself. The evidence ehowed that there was a deck watch kepfc on the Rangatira, but it was possible for someone to jump overboard uuseen. lt had happened before.
