Monthly Ingleside The attendance of members and their friends was well maintained at the Hastings and District Scots Society 's ingleside, held in the Oddfellows' Hall. Chief P. J. Priest presided, and he was piped to the chair in the traditional manner, aceompanied by Chieftains Storer and Ramsay. The chief, in welcoming the members, remarked that he was pleased to see quite a number of visitors, and he hoped that they would thoroughly enjoy themselves. Continuing, he reminded the gathering of the Pipe Band ball to be held in . the Assembly Hall on July 22. Mr Priest made reference to the sad loss to the community in the sudden death of Mr Cecil Duff, one of the oTiginal members of the society, and a moriori of sympathy was carried, the assembled gathering standing in silence for a minute. The programme was a long and varied one. An address by Mrs H. W. C. Baird on the life and works of the late Sir J. M. Barrie was very attentiveiy listened' to and much appreciated. Other artists who contributed items were the Pipe Band; banjo-mandolin selections, Mr K. Thompson; song, Misa Schofield; musical and vocal selections, Mrs Wall, Laurna and Master Wall; dance, Miss M. Hyde; violin selections, Mrs Duff; danee, Miss Pat Millar; dance Miss Joyce Farquharson; song, Miss Deans; dance, Miss Atkins; recitation, Mr A. Robertsou; dance, Misses Burgess, Hawker and Bmith; song Mr Bentley; dance (swords), Miss N. Walker. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the artists. After supper the company participated in dancing unril the "wee sma' hdur. ' ' Miss Collins was accompanist, and Pipers Watts and the McKay supplied the dance music. Chieftain Eamsav was M.C.
