MR J. B. BOYD
j\J.r J. B. Boyd, of Sherenden, received notice of the sudden death oi his youngest brother, Mr Thomas Craham' Boyd, of Aylesbury, south of Christchurch, The late Mr Boyd was born at Hyde, Cdntral Otago, in 1880. After leaving school, he carried His Majesty's inails for'iour yeaas botween Hyde, Kyeburn and sHamiitons and oftcu liad to swim the Taieri river wlien in ilood, as bridges in those days were very scarce. Ai'ter his mail contracfc was finished. Jie became a teamster on the Otago Central Railway and at the ago oi" 21 he joined the Raiiway Hepartment at Dunedin as engine cleaner, but owing to the pay being .small and promotion slow, he resigned and joined the per* manent way staff and was stationed at several places in tho South Island About 15 years ago he was transferred to Aylesbury and promoted to foreman. He was to have retired on superannuation at the end of the present year. He was a member of tho Masonio fraternity, joining at Middlemarch many years ago. The deceased leaves a- vvife and three daughters to mourn his losS, als.o iour brothers and fouv sisters — namely, Alfred Boyd, of ''Awamoa/' Oamaru, William Boyd, of Hyde, liobert Boyd, of b'ivei'orks, Oamaru, and John Boyd, of Sherenden, Mrs» Storey of St. Kilda, .South Dunedin, Mrs C. Taylor, oi' Milburn, Mrs W. Uuttrell, of Yictoria street, Hastings, and Mrs F. Coldicott, of Ashburton.
