BRIGHT MARKET FOR STORE SHEEP
Waipoapoa & Te Apiti Lines' in Demand STORTFORD VALUES A partieularly bright market ruled for store sheep at Stortford Lodge today, when a general rise in values took place. The yarding contained some of the best quality offerings penned for some time, and they sold very' readily. The outstandins drafts of breeding ewes were on account of Waipoapoa and Te Apiti Stations. These lines came forward in excellent order and commanded very keen "selling. Both these lines showed good breeding, being very evenly woolled. Quality was their outstanding feature. All these entries had been dep'astured with Southdown rams since March 1. Te Apiti four-tooths topped the market at 36/3. Two-tooths off " the same property made 32/9. The Waipoapoa five-year ewes topped the market at 30/4 and two-tooths off the same property realised 34/3. Nicely-grown, well- woolled Eomney wether hoggets in forward order brought 21/1. Medium-grown shorn ewe lambs sold at 24/-. A strong tone continued throughout the selling. Eealisations were as follow:- — On account of Mr J. W. Livingstone, Mangatahi, 65 medium-grown woolly Romney wether hoggets, in good healthy order and should carry over well, brought . 17/6. On account of Mr B. J. King, Maraetotara, 94 five-year-old ewes depastured with Southdown rams, brought 29/-. '#.'hese ewes were well woolled, splendidly mouthed and in good condition. - f On account of Graham Bros, Mangatahi, ' 72 two-tooth ewes, mediumi framed and * depastured with Southdown rams since February 20, eold'29/2. On "account of - the same vendors, 130, four-year-old "• ewes • depastured with Romney rams since March 1 brought 24/6. • These* ewes were " generally hard in the wool- and rather ligiht in- condition. » • ■ • An entry ' of 128 four, six - and eighttooth ewes depastured with Sgjjfchdown rams- since March" 7 ■' made 24/-. A' big percentage^ of- these ewes - were young, but .they were mixed in the wool and in hard condition. - On account of Te Apiti Station 275 shorn - Roihney ..wether lambs, -medium grown^and in bright, healthv condition and should :• deyelop into " good twotooth wethers, sold at 17/8. On account of the same vendors, 236 two-tooth - ewes ' depastured with Southdown rams since March 1 brought 32/9. .These young .ewes, being- early shorn, were exceptionally well • woolled and ,in very. fresh, -: bright condition, having been well done." v On account of /Waipoapoa Station, 218 -two-tboth ' ewes depastured with., Southdown rams since March 1 realised 34/1.* These young ewes 'wero larg-er-grown than the previous pen, being exceptionally well woolled and in splendid condition," a most attractive offering. ' On account of Te Apiti Station, 184 five-year ewes depastured withi Southdown rams since March 1 realised. 29/6. These well-framed , ewes were Octobershorn and were in splendid condition, being » well mouthed. • In from Ngatarawa 180 five and sixyear ewes depastured with Southdown rams since February 20 and showing up well in lamb, being f air mouthed, brought 22/3. On account of Te Apiti Station, 110 four-tooth ewes depastured with Southdown rams since March 1 brought 36/3 and 34/- in two lots.' These Octebershorn well fromed ewes were in splendid condition and a most attractive line. On account of the Waipoapoa station, 109 five-year ewes depastured with Southdown rams since March, 1, brought 30/4. These ewes were exceptionally well framed, being early shorn, and topped the market. . An entry of medium-grown shorn Rotoney ewe lambs, in ■ healthy order. sold at 24/-. A line of very small-grown two-tooth ewes off very hard country, depastuyed with Southdown rams and in poor order, were passed at 23/9. On account of the Estate of J . Gillies, Waimarama, 201 big-framed sound- mouthed early-shorn * ewe^ depastured with Southdown rams and showing .up well in lamb realised 27/-. On account of the Estate of %1K. McKenzie, "Kintail" 209 good-mouth-ed ewes depastured with Southdown rams sold at 24/-. On account of Mr J. T. Tuiley, Pukehou, an entry of extra-well woolled, well-grown . Romney wether hoggets in forward order, being bright and healthy, sold at 21/1, .
