Auckland Employees And Transport Board

AUCKLAND, This Day. Grievances which Auckland tramway employees consider they have with the Auckland Transport Board were ventilated at a meeting of the Auckland Labour Eepresentation Committee last week, when a resolution was carried favouring the setting-up of a committee of three, "to inquire into the un-Labour-like attitude of the board and the existing relationships between the board and the tramway union." It is • understood that several members of the Transport Board, iacluding the chairman, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, atiended the meeting and that Mr. Mason addressed the meeting and answered qnestions. A committee of investigation lias b6en set up, comprising Mr. F. G. Young, secretary of the Hotel Workers' Union, chairman; Mr. H. Campbell, secretary of the Painters' Union, and Mr. C. Matthews. It is understood that the parties involved in this dispute which has arisen in the inner ranks of the Labour movement will be invited to present their respective cases at a properly constituted inquiry. In the meantiine it is stated that the union is being requested to state its cnarges m writing. The exact nature of the union 's grievances is not known. When seen this morning, the secretary of the Iramway Employees' Union, Mr. J. Liddell, declined to discuss the matter. - I have nothing whatever to sav " he declared.
