ITALIANS THWARTED
Difficulties in Pacifying Abyssinia (Eeceived 30, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, June 29. The Daily Herald, in a long speeial article, claims to reveal the difficulties that are thwarting the attempts of Marshal Graziani to pacify Abyssinia. The outer Italian military posts are virtually beleaguered, it says. . Food anfi munitions are dropped from aeroplanes. The natives refuse to trade and sell produce to the Italians, despite the raising of the value of local curreney. One thousand of the better-class Abyssiman women have been exiled ror plotting against Marshal Graziani. who, over Signor Mussolini's signature, is eending out a letter to leading Abyssimans, emphasising that Itoly is opening her arms to them like a mother to her children, appealing to them to accept the Italian goodwill and the beneiits of civilisation, and pointing out that honouiable surrender is a reai act of heroism. '
