Natives who caught several lions in t.raps recently on the Limpopo River (South Africa) banka had to call in the pOlice to help them destroy the animals. A policeman had a narrow escape. He stepped close to a roaring animal \and killed him with a shot. The cOnstable Hicn discovered that the lion had been caught, only by the toes. The ncxt day ho killed two lions in the traps. The lions had been killing cattle.
