WELLINGTON, Last" Night, ' A deputation from the New Zealand Aero Club interviewed the Minister of Defence (Hon. F. Jones) to-day to ask the "Government to provide financial assistance and arrange the rates of interest to be charged on such loans. The money would be used for the putchase of more up-to-date machines for use in training. Mr. Jones said the matter would have to be reforred to Cabinet but he assured j the deputation of his sympathetic cooperatiou. At the half-vearly meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Aero Club the Bledisloe trophy for the best firstyear pilot was awarded to Graham Martin, of Wellington, winner of the North Island competition, the South Island pageant having been abandoned. An.offer by Miss Jean Batten of a trophy for which no competition has • °-et been arranged was accepted.
