PROGRESSIVE BRIDGE EVENING AT MAHARAKEKE
Mr and Mrs A. L. McCorm'ick, who just recently had their country residence at Maharakeke modernised, were host and hostess at a very enjoyable progressive bridge evening on Monday, given as a house-warming and incidentally to raise funds for the Rugby SubUnion's Waipukurau Queen, Miss Shirley Clay. Mr and Mrs McCormiek, the latter weardng a graceful gown in black velvet, having diamante clasp on each shoulder, extended a very warm welcome to their many guests who, in a very short space of time, settled down to an enjoyable game of bridge. The two rooms set apart for bridge looked most inviting with big log fires and decorated with bowls of golden iceland poppies. After a delieious buffet supper, some amusing competitions were played, the winners being Mrs W. Wilson and Mr O'Dowd. The holders of the highest scores for bridge were Mrs A. Kibblewhite and Mr S. Train. Before leaving for home,' Mr and Mrs McCormiek were thanked for their kind hospitality, and accorded musical honours. Among those present were: — Mr and Mrs H. Peacock, Mr and Mrs X A.
