YOUNG FARMERS' CLUB
Educational Week At Palmerston CENTRAL H.B. INTEREST • Keen entbusiasm bas been aroused, particularly in the Central Hawke 's Bay districts, by tbe educational week to be beld at Palmerston North next week under tbe auspices • of the Wellington seetion of the New Zealand Fedcration of Yoiing Farmers ' Clubs. A contingent of at least 20 from Takapau, Norsewood and Ongaonga is assured, and a number of others from the same districts, as.well as from Maraekakaho, Otane and Hastings, will prob; ably be making the trip. The week begins next Monday, and those laking part will be accommodated at the showgrounds under camp conditions. The. approximato cost for the whole week is-,£l; and, while' members are expected to provide clothing and eating Utensils,. mattresses will be supplied. Arrangements have been made for four meals, breakfast being at 7.30 o'cloek, dinnor at 12,30, tea at 6 p.m., and supper between J.O and 11 o'clock. It is conservativeiy estimated that there will be at least 400 young farmers from the Wellington district, which includes a good portion of the East Coast, attending the camp. An excellent week, both educationally and from a social point of view, is promised, and Palmerston North is especially adapted for such a gathering, for it is the centre of farm and field research stations. . Those attending the camp will assemble next Monday afternoon, pmd will disband on the following Saturday afternoop. A meeting on Monday evening will be "the first business. Gn the following day visits will be made'-to the seed-teS|ting station and a seed-cleaning plant and a box factory, and Jater members will be shown round the plant research station and dairy research institute. Visits will paid thc following day to Longburn froeziDg works and Foxton 's woolpaek factories, while those interested in drainago will be given a mole draining demonstratiou at Colyton. A comprehensive demonstratiou in sheep, cattle and pigs will be given on Thursday, and a tour will be made of Massey College, while on Friday a visit will be paid to the Marton experimental area and a farm demonstration will conclude the day. The camp will disband on Saturday following a sports meeting in the morning. Each evening lectures will be given except on Friday night, when a social and dance will be held.
