OBITUARY
Mr. Norman H. Nash A lihk with janrnalism, and other branches of the newspaper business extending over fifty years was severed by the death early on Sunday morning of Mr Norman Henry Nash, managing director and editor of the "ManaEvening Standard." Mr Nash, who bad not enjoyed good health since he underwent a very severe operation 18 months ago, was taken ill recently,, but ho had made a good recovery and was able to attend to his business interests when he suffered a serious relapse on Saturday afternoon. Porn on the goldfields, near Bmidwood, New South Walos, 71 years ago, Mr Nash was the eldest son of the late Mr Norman Nash and of Mrs A. E. Nash, who is living in retirement. Apart from his brief residence elsewhere,^ Mr Nash had lived in Palmerston North for a very long period, and he witnessed the transformation of tbe district from its virgin state and the city from its small township to the prosperity it enjayn to-dayt. Altogetlier .he had spent 56 years in newspaper worlc, and nearly 50 in Palmerston , North. 1 Mr Nash was married to Miss Annie Howec 49 years ago, and besides his widow he leaves surviving a family of ' throe sons — ATessrs N. A. Nash, J. , H. Nasli^ and G. M. Nash (of Palmerston ' North) — and six daughters — Mesdames G. A. Dixon, W. H. McPhail, A. R, M--Kegg (Palmerston North), L. G. M-ll-ward (Kairanga), I. A. Pearce (Lower - Hutt), and Miss Nancy Nash ^ Palmer- ti ston North). Besides his mother, Mr a Nash also leaves tliree brothers — 11 Messrs J. A. Nash and C. P. Nah (of a Palmerston North) and Mr E, J, Nash, li Bt' Wellington. ^
