HAUMOANA GROUP
Tlie Haumoana Institute held its June meeting in the Hall, JMrs McCarthy presiding over a good number, considering the incloment weather. The roll call ' "Favourite Filtn Star aud Why" proved very popular. After the usual business, members joined in a community sing, lead by Mrs Neilson and accompanied by Mrs Potter. Members were next entertained by the reading, by Mesdames Neilson and Potter and Miss Alix liochfort, of Leonard J. Hines' play, "It's Hard to Grow Old." Tlie monthly eompetition, "Best Knitted Article," brought many beautiful entries. Mesdames Bridgeman and Turner Williams awarded points as follows : — 1st Class : Mrs Baker junr. 1, Mrs J. Glenny 2, Mrs Manning 3. Second Class: Miss Langdon 1 and 2, Mrs Mudgway 3. During the afternoon members contributed to tlie Children's Homes and the triplet fund. ^ Votes of thanks were passed to the judges and the play-readers.
