WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Bay View Gathering The Bay Yiew Women 's Institute held its June meeting in King George's Hall, Mrs Olsen presiding over a good; attendance of members. Several visitors were welcomed. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs Milne in her recent bereavement. It was decided to hold the concert on the last Tuesday in July. This being the end of the library committee's flnaneial year, Mrs Wilson (secretary), read a very satisfactory report of progress. There are now several hundred books in the library. The new library committee is: Mesdames B. McHardy (seeretary), Sands, Mandy, and Miss Nicholls. » The Institute, having won the Historical Society 's eompetition, was the recipient of several letters of congratulation. During the afternoon Miss. Howard, of Pakowhai, gave a very interesting demonstration on cane-tray making. The result of the competitions were: Print apron, Mrs Les. Staniland 1, Mrs Olsen 2, Miss Blair 3. Best bloom, silver miniature cup, Miss Nicholls 1, Mrs Saunders 2, Mesdames Rogors and Les Staniland 3. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Ihe hostesses, Mesdames L. Stafford and Rogers. The iNational Anthem brought anotlier pleasant afternoon to a close. *
