Successful Annual Ball

WAIPAWA, Last -Night. The Waipawa Firo Brigado 's aunual ball, held iu the Municipal Thoatra, was an outstanding success. The happy throng of dancers was assembled from all parts of the district, and ineJuded representatives from the Dannevirke and Waipukurau Brigades, Ex&ellent niusic for Ihe dariomg was provided by Mr W. Te Tau's orchestra*, and the duties of M.O. were very capably carried out by Fireman Stephouson. Extras were contributed by Messrs H. Wcedon and W. August, and meinbers of the orchestra. The hall looked most attractive with its decoratious of coloured balloons and streamers and the lotters W.V.F.B. done in the lirigade coloprs forming a centrepiece. The wonderful colouring of tho many charming frocks worn by tho ladies gave a rainbow appcarance to the room. Balloon and streamer dances added much to the merriment of the evening. A very appetising supper was served, and the ladies' committee is deserving oi special mention for the manner in which the supper arrangements were controlled, no light task with such a large erowd. Tlie supper-room was Cestooned with coloured streamers, and on the tablcs: were bowls. of bright flowers Durinp fhe evening a Monte Carlo and a sj, i waltz were held, the prizes for the iui iuer going -to Mr and Mrs J. Avison, and for the latter to Mrs Glay- , tpn aad Mr 33. Maher.
