JOLLY BALL HELD BY HATUMA CRICKET CLUB

Distinetive decorations, exccllent music and a jolly crowd of danccrs. made the Hatuma Cricket Club's anltual bad, which was held iu the Hatuma hall on Friday night, oue of the most successful functicns held in the district tliis season. The many dancers who arrived from tlie surrouuding districts, liad all come with every inteution of having a good time, and in tliis they were belped by Goruon Jtedward's orcliestra, whicli kept things rolling along merrily until the small hours ct pie raorning. Tlie Cricket Club's coLurs, biack and gold, had been uscd to decorate the baJl with striking effect. Suspended from the centre of the ceiling was a big basket completely covered with golden pi.ppies, and attached to this were gold and black streamors aud strings oi ballocns in the same colour schenie, crossing over and fastened to the walls with big buuclies of greenery,. the corners and doorway being also covered in with greenery. The front of tlie stage was hlled in with a low trellicof braoken, greenery and golden poppies. JMuch-appreciatcd by the danccrs was the teinpting savoury buffet s upper served. For the perfect organisation and artistic decorations, credit is due to the secretary, Mr F. Culliug, wlio had the assistance of tbe meinbcrs oi the Criekct Club, Mesdamcs L. itobiuson, Brunton, ALisses Kitty lliddle, J. Wilsun and E. Wilson. Huring the evemng an excelleut demonstration of the modern quick step was given by Miss Ngaire Staines and Mr N.
