ier, Butler, E. Cox, Ennor, CrawfordSmith, Smith, Technical: Bossiter, Herbert, Plested, Cushing, Peterson, Biddell, W. Johnson, B-. Johnson, BoWman, Brooks, Murray, Lopdell, Dalton, Skittrup. Old Boys went into action right from the kick-off, Bradley and Butler, who followed U]i fast, catching the defence on the wrong foot to go down to the line, Bradley scoring. Hutchinson 's kick fell short. Technical were not long in arrears, however, as W. Johnson equalised with a fine penalty goal at the end of gve minutes play. The light Old Boys' pack set about its work with a rigour that for a time at least neutralised the weight and greater experience of their opponents. Over-eagerness brought in its wake Several penalties for scrum infringcments, and from one of these Bradley kicked au easy goal. The Technical backs showed up well in the sueceeding* part of the spell, throwing the ball about in a manner that Old Boys found extremely difficult to counter, At the tail end of a rearguard movement Bowman secured near the line and pushed through the opposing fonfards for a try near the posts. W. Johnson missed an easy kick. Scores remained equal up to the interval. A brilliant try engineered by Bradley opened the scoring in the second spell, From a scramble on the Old Boys'- line, Bradley emerged with the ball and set out for home. With Smith in support, he ran straight to the fullback, aummied towards Smith, and then phSSed outfield to E. Cox, who had raced up on the other side. The big forward galloped away from the Technical purSUit and scored well out, Hutchinson again missing the kick. Following this a period of hard forward play took place, and play was confined for the most part to neutral terrilory. Technical gained plenty of ihe ball, but Crawi'ord-Smith and his forwards broke up any attempts at a concerled back movemeut. The-crowd was in uproar as Technical repeatedly approaehed the line, but desperate tackling and hard rucking by Old Boys kept them out. Both teams soon lost any pretence to any formation, and becanie a tangled sea of jerseys struggiing near the Old Boys line. Hutchinson, although suffering from an injured leg, cleared well upon several occasions. Finally Peterson secured near the line ahd threw a long pass to Cushing, who ovaded two tackies and scored in the corner. A magnificent conv^rsion by Herbert sailed fairly between the uprights. Old Boys still had a kick left in them, however, and when a Technical kick went astray Hutchinson kicked a wonderful field goal from a poiut near the side-line 45 yards out. Technical, f ailed to make up the leeway. Bcorers: Napier H.S.O.B. (13): Bradley (try and penalty goal), E. Cox (try), and Hutchinson (field goal). Technical (11): Bowman (try), Cushing (try), W.
