OPEN EVENING HELD AT WOMEN'S CLUB
Miss Hilda Pope jind Miss Rona Hawley were. tlie hostesses for tlie open evening arranged by the members of the: evening circle oi' the Hastings Women's Commuuity Club. Great hmtfsement was caused dnring the evening by Miss M. "Aitkeu, who gave character readings from handwriting. Following this two boIos were beautifully sung by Miss Delcie Willianis, "Twilight Fanties" (Dclius) and "Spring Ho!iday,, (Ernest Walker). The accompauisle. was Miss Tevelein. A competition, "Yes and No,'' was won by a visitor, Alrs Sutherlaiid. An excellenfc tal.U on Sanioa was given by Miss I. Taylor, w bo has spent three years there. iSlany curius were passed round and greatly interested the members, who were each prewitii a lucky bean from tbc Sanioan lucky tree. A short play was acted in irmhe, the characters being the herome, IMiss Hilda Pope; the girl friond. Miss Mary Lankovsky • the inaid, flliss Rona Hawley; the short fat man (rejected suitor), Miss Frances Nutter ; tlie tall tliin man. (hero), Miss Zita Wright. . Supper ronohuled a very pleasant evening.
