Dairy Bosrd's Survey
(By Teiegrapi:
HAMILTON, June 23. A careful survey of tho bobby calf trade is being undertaken by the Dairy Produce Board, according to an announcement by the M'inister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, to-day. He said the methods adopted in tho trade were, as all knew, open to serious criticism, and he was particularly anxious that it should be put ou a more rationalised basis than at present. "In this connectiou the Dairy Boird is making a careful survey of tho wholo position and will be shortly subinitting definite proposals to me whereby a rationalised objeetive can be xeached," the Minister said. "I feel that in this mattor the board is particularly suitable, not only to formulato proposals, but also to be given that measure of statutory power that would enable s'atisfactory internal organisation from the farmers' standpoint to be in its hahds.,, Something along that line appeared to be the most reasonable line of approach to put the position on a far more satisfactory basis than it was at [present, the Minister added.
