Once again the' society has secured large entries for the Vanious classes, and the quality in most eectioiis is very high^ " well maiiitaihing' the presfcige of the s'how as one of ■ihe best in the North . Island. . . The judges were "Messrs" W; A. Hanson (Auckland), fancy pbultr'y; J._ H. Kissiing (Falmerston- Nbrth), litility poultry; David "Walker, 'Rliode ' Island Beds; Ken; Hoare" (Wellington), pigeons; and "K. For'ster' " (Hastings), cage-birds. ■ -i The list of cups and other . v'aluable trophies is -probably the best of : any society in the North Island, and it says mueh for the society ' in' its .endeavours to foster : the breeding '. of ' purebred poultry, pigeons ahd cage-bi'rds 6f a high standard-that patrons sliould have come forward so generouely with such a finie lot of trophies.- - These are worthy of ■ the * strongest competition,- and with most of the varieties > this has - been brought qut. ' • ; . : There i's one point which some of the exhibitors have made 'which inay be worthy of the : consideratidn of- the society an connection with the - trdphylist for f uture ' shows,- and- that is- the disproportion of valuable trophies allbtted'to the fancy vdrietiee of'poultry as compared with, the utility breeds. The pigeon section'isJnot Sb filled as usual, but the classes ■ : cOnt'aih some good quality "birds. - The cage-bird section is • about - the sanie as in previous years.
