WELLINGTON, Last Night. When annduucing the results of Ubusihg tendei's, Mr. J. H. Lee, UnderBecretary, stated that in the Hastings scheme tho houses wero grouped into six difi'erent contracts' varying frop 12 houses to one house, the variation beiqg designed to give the small contraetors an opportunity of tenderiiig. Qhly twp oontractors submitted tenders, opo a tender for 12 hopses ahd imother for'a two-house unit. No ten!era were received for the other four otitracts. The tender for the iarger oiitract is unusually high and will be ■uciiued. The tender for tho two-hbuse unit is reasonable, and if a satisfactbry -chodulo is submitted, this contruct will Oe probably awarded to Mr. A. W, .Vpperley. Where tenders wei'e declined, iresli tenders will be sdvertised at an ( early ciate.
