Owing to the eold weather, the attendance was rather disappointing at the cribbage tournament between Court Ruahine (A.O.F.) and Loyal Tavistock (M.U.- Oddfellows), . played at Waipukurau. Foresters' won the tournament by four games. School Rugby Postponed. Owing to the rain, yesterday 's primary school Rugby football matches were postponed, and the various games will be played to-morrow afternoon. Waipukurau Property Sale. Privale negotiations were opened after. a bid of £800 was made yesterday afternoon for a. property in Ruataniwha slreet, Waipukurau, formerly owned by Messrs Sowry and Dowrick. There was a f air attendance at the , sale, but it was obvious that, with the cxccption of the one bidder, all present- wero attracted to the sale from curiosity rather than with .the intentiou to buy. Private negotiations 'f ailed to eoniplete a satisf actory transaction, as tho "property is so far unsold.

Hatuma Cricket Ball. Patrons are reminded of tbo Hatumo Cricket Club's annual ball, 'which will take place in the Hatuma Hall on' Friday ^ night. Concrete Poles Era. A commencement has been made by the contractors to the Central Hawke's Buy Electric Power Board in tho erection of the various extension lines in the Power Board 's area. The concrete poles receutly constructed bythe bo'ard are being utilised for the various extensions, and the concrete ' poles for the Burnside extension are on the site, while the cartage of the concrete poles ,PrinSkills section is being proceeded with. The present concrete poles are manufactured to give a span of 354 feet an even larger span is permissible under certain couditions — and in order to secure this advantage the Central Jlawke s Bay Electric Power Board is lo use a speciiication that will allow tue poles to be erected six chains apart, whcih is 42 feet longer span than at piesent.
