(Froi
WAIPUKURAU, This Day. ; Applications for goods services liecnses were considerod yesterday at a .sitting in Waipukurau of the No. 2 Licen&ing Authority. Licenses were granted to the following:— Mr R. G. Duncan, Waipawa. New general goods license. On behalf of Mr Duncan, Mr G. Harker said that his elieiit had been offered a contract for wood carrying, by a sawmill in Waipawa, and also a contract for eartirig bcbby calves and pigs, by a freezing fiim. Mr W. J. Skoglund pointed out that it was usual in cases such as this toi grant a license only for the county in which the town that the carrier had operated in, was situated. The position here was different, however, owing to the arrangement of the County. boundaries. Mr C. R. Watson for the Carriers' Association said there was no objection. Mr Pedersen was granted a license for the carriage of cream for the Norse-' wood Co-op. Dairy Co. in _Waipawa and Dannevirke counties. Mr H. J. Guilliard (Waipukurau) was granted permission to convey goods through the Dannevirke county to Dannevirke. Mr S. J. Stephenson (Waipawa), was granted an application for, permission to use a trailer for the carriage off posts. Objection was taken by Mr C. Cassidy to Mr Stephenson being granted an amended license permitting him to operate in three counties. Mr Skoglund said, however, that he thought there was uo reason why all the licenses should not be extended to the whole of the North Island, and he thought it quite likely that this would ' Ultimately come about.
