WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Sherenden Meeting Tho June meeting of tlie Sherenden Women 's Institute was held in the Hall on Thursday and Mrs. Boyd presided over an exeellent -attendance of members. The usual business was dealt with and the roll call for the day, any useful hints, brought forth many very helpful suggestions. Later Mr.. Eenfrew gave a most interesting talk on trees and how to plant them. After a very enjoyable afternoon tea had been served the competitions which were very well contested% were judged. The best blooms were judged by Mr. Eenfrew, and the cakes by Mrs. Noel Beamish and Mrs. J. Mason, while the children 's sox were judged by Mrs. Sinclair. The results were: — Best bloom, senior, Mrs. N. Beamish 1, Mr®. McDougal 2, Mrs. N. Beamish 3; ' juniors, Miss N. Oonnor 1, Miss M. Mathews 2. Miss M. Attwood 3. Shoulder spray, to b.e made 'in five minutes, seniors, Mrs. Befd 1, Mrs. Whyte 2, Mrs. Wedd 3; juniors, Miss M. Attwood 1 Miss N. Connor 2. My favourite cake) seniors, Mrs. McGrane and Mrs. Glarkson (equal) 1, Mrs. Attwood 3; juniors, Miss N. Connor 1 and 2. Pair of children 's sox (plain knitting), seniors, Mrs. Attwood 1, Mrs. Whyte 2: juniors, Miss M. Matthews 1. . A sixpenny "bring and buy" stall held during the afternoon brought forth good results, and the meeting elosed after a very enjoyable afternoon.
