AUSTRIA DOES NOT RECOGNISE FRANCO
(Received 24, 11 a.m.) VIENNA, June 23. ' The Government turned down a request from General Franco, baeked by Germany, to recognise the rebel Government of Spain. Austria's refusal is interpreted as a gesture of friendship to the Western Powers.
