THEFT OF GAUNTLETS
Mtutri Giveii a Chance Pleading guilty to stealing a p&ir of leather gauntlet _mita yalued at 10/-, the property of D. R. Davies, a Maori, Ruru Repohau appeared before Mf J. Mliller, S.M.y in the Hastings Magistrate's Court this morning. The Magistrate remarked that he wohld give defendant a chance and convicted , and ordered him to conie up fof sentqnfee within six months if called upon, the gloves to be restored to thei# OwneX. Senior-SergCant G. Sivyef explained that the gloves had been stolen from a ear garaged in a shed on ihe pfoperty Where defendant worked. Defendant, when seen wearing thein, readily Sdinitted the theft, HiS exCuee was that he had taken them to wear on a bieycle as he had to ride honie to Pakipaki' He was a Iharfied niafi With six children.
