FKt-Cattie Mafket At Stortford SH0RT YARDING A sharp rise of 20/- a head ruled at to-day's mafket for fat eattle at Stortford Lodge. In the same draft heifers which were not quitb up to last week's quality from this S'ource, made to £10. Heifers were on offer in much larger numberS to-day, and for the prime entries butchers paid up to 30/- per 100 1b. Many of the entries were very emall ; grown, some being little larger than runners. Quality was not lacking upon the young beef pens. Secoiid-quality aged cows were in shprt supply to make fully 20/- per iooib. As the sale progressed values did not 6how any easing tendency, with butchers still shoft of their requirements. At a later stage of the sale an outstanding quality pen of ffledium grown heifers made to £9 17/6. Prices — OX BEEF RATES Two dehorned brindle Bullocks, light and plain-finished, brought £9 2/6. A similarly-framed Shorthorn shOwing a little more finish made £9 17/-* A single prime Shorthorn 30-months-old steer, a good quality entry brought £10. A single hoavy well-framed AberdeenAngus bullock, heavy botted and carrying a lot of condition, sold well at £13 15/-. In ffom Otamauri a medium to heavy entry of Hereford and Hereford-cross bullocks, prime-finished good-quality winter ox beef, sold at £12 10/-. COW BEEF PRIOES A small entry of medium Hereford cows, plain finished, sold at £6 13/6. A medium to heavy dehorned Hereford cow, of medium qtiality, mode a good sale at £8 11/-. Frofii Otamauri, five heavy Aberdeen Angus-Hereford cross was of prime quality, solidly finished, brought to £9 18/-. On aceount of Mr. R. Matthe'ws, a draft of prime-quality well-finished heavy cows made to £10 7/6. heiFer values On accotint of Bing Bros., Te Poliue. an entry of medium-grown Abefdeen Afigtis heifers ,the tops being pri&efinished, brought to £8. Four smal-grown Aberdeefl Angus heifers, prime finished atid of good quality, brought £7 A line of six small-grown ' Aberdeen Angus heifers, the size of good runners, good quality young beef, sold to £6 10/-. A single heavy extra-prime Aberdeen Angus heifer, a choice beef entry, was readily sought after to xealise £10 12/0. In frOm Otamauri four mediumgrdwni Aberdeen Angus Hereford cross heifers, particularly well finished, a prime-quality entry, sold at £9 5/-. From ihe same property, a line of similarly-bred heifers, equally well-firi-ished, a choice ydung beef entry, also sold at £9 5/-. From the .aame course, six similarlybred ligjiter heifers, lacking the finis!) of the previous entries, sold to £7 15/On aeeount of Air R.
