MANUFACTURERS CONCERNED
-Press Association.)
(By Telegraph-
AUCKLAND, Last Night. Reference to the uneven nature of trade between Australia and New Zealand was made by Mr F. N. Ambler, president of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association. Manufacturers were concerned over the situation, he said, because most of the goods shipped from Australia to the Dominion represented manufactures. Australia was competing with New Zealand industry on the Dominion' s own market, and that its trade was a growing -ne was borne out by the cargo congesfci n occurring at Sydney. In woollen goods Australia was proving a big competitor to New Zealand mills. On a recent visit to Australia he saw evidence of a great deal of aetivity and interest by manufacturers in New Zealand trade. He had been told by several manufacturers that they had tested the New Zealand market last year and as a result of the experience gained they hoped to benefit considerably in their operations this year.
